All New Dodge Dart – Blending Italian Style with American Performance in a Compact Sedan Unlike Any Other
It is a rare occurrence when a new car comes along that can appeal to such a diverse group of buyers. A car with mass appeal needs to have a wide range of pricing, style, performance and fuel efficiency options to fit an equally wide range of buyer needs. That’s why the upcoming release of the 2013 Dodge Dart is so significant; it’s a compact sedan versatile enough to attract everyone from recent college graduates to recent retirees.
Combining the style and substance of the iconic Italian Alfa Romeo brand with the American passion and performance that Dodge is known for, the 2013 Dodge Dart looks every bit as exciting as it drives. The 2013 Dodge Dart will be available in SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T trims, with a starting MSRP of only $15,995.
If you were to use one word to describe the overall appearance of the Dodge Dart, it might be “custom.” With a selection of 12 exterior colors, 14 interior color and trim combinations, six wheel options and three engine and transmission options, the Dart can be configured to perfectly match the taste of every individual. If all these options still aren’t enough, the Dart will offer more than 150 Mopar customization options and packages.
All New Dodge Dart Offers Plenty of Drivetrain Options
The Dart offers three powerful and efficient engine options. Most trims come standard with a new 2.0-liter 16-valve Tigershark™ four-cylinder engine that generates 160 hp and 148 lb/ft of torque and returns up to 36 mpg highway.
Buyers can also opt for two engines with MultiAir™ technology – a feature that allows dynamic control of air intake and combustion for a 15 percent increase in low-end torque and a 7.5 percent increase in fuel efficiency. As a result, the available 1.4-liter Intercooled MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder generates 160 hp and 184 lb/ft of torque while achieving up to 39 mpg highway, and a new 2.4-liter 16-valve Tigershark™ MultiAir II four-cylinder cranks out extra muscle to the tune of 184 hp and 171 lb/ft of torque. For those who seek the ultimate in fuel efficiency, an “Aero” model will be available later this year that will push fuel efficiency north of 40 mpg highway.
Equal to the number of engine options are the number of transmission options, including a six-speed manual, six-speed PowerTech automatic and a perfect blend of the two in a six-speed Dual Dry Clutch transmission.
Part of what gives the Dodge Dart such remarkable fuel efficiency is its host of exterior design features that make it extremely aerodynamic. A low, wide stance and a smooth, arcing roofline minimize air turbulence, and a lower radiator close-out panel below the front fascia reduces wind drag. Unique design touches––like the Dodge split crosshair grille; available, Charger-inspired, full-width taillamp with 152 glowing LEDs; and class-exclusive dual exhaust––add an element of aggressive, innovative style to the Dart.
Inside the Dart, buyers will find a remarkable blend of craftsmanship and advanced technology not commonly found in a compact car. High-quality soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, customized displays and optimized interior space all come together to make the Dodge Dart cabin one of the segment’s roomiest and best-equipped.
The centerpiece of the Dart interior is a class-exclusive sleek, low-profile instrument cluster featuring a customizable seven-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display. Another class-exclusive feature, the Uconnect Touch 8.4 Media Center, features the largest touch-screen in its class, at 8.4 inches, bringing an unparalleled connectivity experience to the Dart.
The Dart chassis design is based on that of the award-winning Alfa Romeo Giulietta, known for being exceptionally athletic thanks to its dialed suspension and communicative steering. The 68 percent high-strength steel body not only helps keep the Dart lightweight, stiff and flex-free in corners, it also serves as protective shell that absorbs crash impacts while protecting occupants.
In addition to its outstanding structure, the Dart offers class-leading safety including 10 standard airbags, reactive front head restraints, Electronic Stability Control, four-wheel disc Anti-Lock Braking System and available Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection, ParkView rear back-up camera and ParkSense rear park assist.
The 2013 Dodge Dart is already the standard that every other compact car is measured against, and the media has already taken notice. The 2013 Dart has already been named number one on kbb.com’s “Coolest New Cars Under $18,000,” has been selected by Consumer Guide Automotive as a “10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000,” and has been included Ward’s “10 Best Interiors” list.
