We hear it a lot: a car, truck, or SUV has won a safety award or honor. It has been smashed, bashed, beaten, and dented into oblivion. After the car is completely totaled and the data is analyzed, the vehicle is deemed one of the safest, one of the most dangerous, or somewhere in between.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) spends thousands of hours testing and examining vehicle safety, annually awarding car Top Safety Pick Honors, but have you ever wondered what exactly goes into those tests?
