How to use Wireless Charging in a New Kia

November 19, 2020 By Becca Gardner

Kia wireless charging in K5

Throw out your cords, because you won’t need them! A new convenient feature, wireless charging is available on new Kia models. We are going to quickly explain how to use the wireless charging feature on your Kia.

Before using the wireless charging feature, check to make sure the phone you would like to use is a Qi compatible phone. If you have a phone case on your phone, check to see if that case is Qi compatible as well. If the case is not, the phone may not charge with the case on. A few Qi compatible phones include; Apple iPhone 8 and newer, or the Samsung S7 and newer.

Step-by-step Guide to Wirelessly Charge your Phone in a New Kia

Phone charging in wireless charging
  1. Turn the Kia “on” and check to ensure all doors are closed.
  2. Place your phone on the center of the charging pad.
  3. There will be an “amber” light to indicate the phone is charging.
  4. When the charge is complete, there will be a “green” light but in some cases, dependent on the phone used, the light will stay an “amber” color.

TIP: To avoid damage to the wireless charging pad, refrain from placing coins, credit cards, paper clips, pens, jewelry, or any other objects on the charging pad while charging.
