At McGrath, our team is the backbone of everything we do. That’s why we recognize and celebrate their dedication, hard work, and excellence. One of our most cherished traditions is the Over the Tops banquet, an event that highlights the incredible efforts of our team members each month.
What is “Over the Tops”?
Over the Tops is a long-standing tradition that allows employees and customers to recognize outstanding team members. Each month, we gather at our Chevy store’s delivery bay for a celebratory event with delicious food, heartfelt recognition, and camaraderie. This month, our team enjoyed walking tacos catered by Hy-Vee. As the weather warms up, we’ll transition to our signature summer grill-outs, making these gatherings even more enjoyable.
How Employees Are Recognized
Employees earn Over the Top certificates in three ways:
- Customer Submissions – Customers can fill out recognition cards at all stores, email feedback, or submit online reviews highlighting an employee’s exceptional service.
- Peer Nominations – Team members can nominate a fellow employee who went above and beyond to assist a customer or coworker.
- Online Reviews – Five-star reviews from Google, Cars.com, and CarGurus that mention specific employees count toward recognition.
This program fosters appreciation and reinforces that our people are our greatest asset. Recognizing those who go the extra mile keeps our workplace supportive and rewarding.
Introducing the “Difference Maker”
Each month, our leadership team selects one standout individual from the Over the Top recipients to receive the prestigious Difference Maker Award. This honor goes to the person who truly goes above and beyond, showing exceptional dedication to customer service and teamwork. At our annual Christmas party, we honor all Difference Maker winners from the year with a plaque, gift card, and public recognition.
Additional Employee Recognition
We also celebrate our team in other meaningful ways:
- Rockstar Parking – A designated VIP parking spot for one exceptional employee each month.
- Anniversaries & Birthdays – Employees celebrating milestones receive recognition. Every first Thursday of the month, we bring in a birthday cake to celebrate all team members born that month.
- Everything Speaks Award – Inspired by Disney’s attention to detail, this award honors employees who take exceptional pride in their work, workspaces, and interactions with customers.
Community Engagement & Upcoming Events
Beyond recognizing our employees, McGrath actively participates in community events and charitable initiatives. Here are some recent updates:
- The grand opening of McGrath Hyundai – Officially open now, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for May 15th.
- St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Employees and their families can join the McGrath float on March 17th.
- Successful Food Drive – Our team’s generosity helped donate over 1,000 pounds of food to local food banks.
- Concert & Charity Events – We’re sponsoring several local events, including the Marita May & Lads of County Linn St. Patrick’s Day concert, the Arc March Walk, and the Maple Syrup Festival.
