Since 1999, McGrath Auto has celebrated its top-performing team members through an extraordinary event known as the BBB Banquet—an acronym for Biggest, Baddest, Best. This tradition not only recognizes outstanding achievements but also highlights the dedication, talent, and personal stories of the people who drive our success.
A Night to Remember
The BBB Banquet is held annually in December at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. It’s an evening where employees, along with their significant others, dress up and celebrate in style. From heartfelt speeches to tiered bonuses, the night is all about acknowledging exceptional contributions across sales, service, and parts departments.
This year’s banquet was particularly poignant. Originally scheduled for December, it was moved to January following the passing of James Stephen, a valuable team member and incredible person. In a touching gesture, James’s father, Jim Stephen, stepped in to deliver a heartfelt tribute to the top performers of the year. His participation added a deeply personal and emotional layer to the event, reminding everyone of the close-knit family culture at McGrath Auto.
Recognizing Excellence
The BBB Banquet celebrates those who meet specific performance criteria throughout the previous year. Salespeople who achieve this level of achievement earn a coveted spot at the banquet, alongside additional bonuses and rewards.
This year, 52 sales team members qualified out of 131—a testament to their hard work and dedication. The top performers included Mike Huber of McGrath Toyota, with an astounding 335 deliveries, and Jason Murley of McGrath Kia, closely following at 327.
More Than Metrics
What makes the BBB Banquet truly special is its personal touch. Sales Managers and Executive Leaders take the stage to share not only the achievements of their team members but also anecdotes about their character, family, and what they mean to the organization. Each honoree receives commemorative items like jackets and hats, alongside group photos that adorn the walls of McGrath’s conference rooms—cherished memories of years past.
Honoring Legacy and Looking Ahead
The 26th BBB Banquet served as a celebration of resilience, hard work, and the enduring legacy of McGrath Auto. As Gavin put it, it’s about recognizing “the people that do the work, the people that make things happen.”
The event is more than a tradition—it’s a reminder of the dedication, passion, and camaraderie that define McGrath Auto. Here’s to the incredible team members who make it all possible and to the continued success of McGrath Auto.
