Consumer Reports has released their list of best pickups, and two trucks available from McGrath Auto are at sitting the top.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500 are sitting at #1 and #2 respectively, with trucks from Toyota and Nissan trailing after.
The Chevy Silverado Takes the Top Spot
Consumer Reports gave the all-new Silverado a great score, largely because of the trucks excellent road testing, hauling capability, and cargo capacity.
The publication gave points to the 2014 Silverado for the easy-to-use tailgate and in-bumper steps, which makes getting into and out of the truck bed quicker and easier.
Consumer Reports also found that the Silverado picked up 16 miles per gallon combined, best among the trucks that were tested.
GM is doing something right, as Consumer Reports seems to have a newfound respect for Chevrolet products. In the past they have typically given better scores to German and Japanese cars, but the redesigned 2014 Chevy Impala scored better than any other sedan.
Plenty of Praise for the Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 was only edged by 3 points, which is one of the closest results Consumer Reports has seen.
According to the study, the Ram 1500 may actually be the better truck for daily commuting. Editor’s cited a smooth ride from the truck’s coil springs, comfortable seats, and innovative interior.
During testing, the Ram 1500 returned an average of 15 mpg combined, very close to the Silverado’s number.
“The reality is that you can’t go wrong with either one. Both are capable trucks that get decent gas mileage and are as quiet inside as a good luxury car.”
– Jake Fischer, Consumer Reports Director of Automotive Testing
