GM Announces Power Numbers for 2014 GMC Sierra

May 31, 2013 By Kif Richmann

2014 GMC Sierra

The definition of Professional Grade is getting an upgrade.

The all-new 2014 GMC Sierra is going to change the way people look at trucks, thanks to its refined comfort, increased power, and innovative fuel saving technologies.

With GM’s estimated 420 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, the 2014 GMC Sierra equipped with the innovative 6.2L V8 is going to be the most powerful light-duty truck available.

With innovative technologies, a high-class interior, and unbeatable performance, the GMC Sierra is bringing big things to the streets of Cedar Rapids.

2014 GMC Sierra: Innovative and Powerful

The 2014 GMC Sierra is built with three potential engines, a 43.L V6, and 5.3L V6, and a 6.2L V8. Each engine offers a unique combination of power, performance, and fuel-efficiency, and features a trio of technologies that make them extremely efficient without sacrificing on power.

Three technologies are featured on all the 2014 Sierra’s engines:

Direct Injection: Delivers fuel directly into the combustion chamber. This brings a higher compression ratio, resulting in more torque, power, and overall fuel-economy.

Variable Valve Timing: This technology optimizes the camshaft timing to improve low-rpm torque and horsepower. Optimizing the low-rpm torque creates better take-off and acceleration while hauling heavy loads.

Active Fuel Management: Also known as Cylinder Deactivation, the system shuts down certain pistons, creating a more fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine while demand is low. (Sitting at a stoplight, rolling down the highway with no load, etc.)

More Power Than Any Other Light Duty Truck

GM has announced that the 2014 GMC Sierra with a 6.2L V8 is going to be the most powerful light duty pickup on the road, with 420 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. The 2014 Sierra will be more powerful than the truck it replaces and more powerful than all other light-duty pickups on the road.
