Due to popular demand, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 will now be offered in the 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Laramie Limited.
This now means the powerful and efficient Pentastar engine will be available in nearly all 2014 Ram 1500 trim packages.
3.6L Pentastar V6 Heading to Top-Shelf Ram Models
The V6 engine in the top trim packages will mean better fuel economy and could potentially reduce the price of the truck. According to initial reports, the price of the Longhorn and Laramie editions could be reduced by as much as $1,000, although pricing has yet to be announced.
According to Nick Cappa of Ram Truck media relations, the decision to put the V6 in higher trim packages was completely customer driven.
Cappa said that many dealerships have reported customers returning from test drives and being surprised at the engine under that hood was a V6. Because of the excellent performance, it’s not uncommon for customers to lift the hood just to confirm that they were actually a truck with the smaller engine.
While economy and performance numbers can vary across different models, the a 2014 Ram 1500 HFE with the Pentastar engine can achieve 18 mpg in town and 25 mpg in the city. This truck is also rated to tow 7,450 lbs, making it not only one of the most efficient, but also one of the most powerful.
The engine delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Connected to a smooth and efficient Torqueflite 8-speed transmission, the Pentastar V6 allows superior acceleration in low gears as well as confident highway-speed performance.
The Pentastar V6 is already trusted to power many of the Ram 1500 models, including Outdoorsman, Big Horn, and SLT packages.
