The McGrath Women’s Network share a focus each month to help support and empower one another. For the month of September, we will be focusing on developing healthy habits. I don’t know about all of you, but with the stress of COVID and then the recent challenges brought on by Derecho, there are definitely healthier habits that I can be making. If you are in a similar situation or just wanting to develop healthier choices, you can jump on board with us!
Sounds easy right? The amount of time it takes to develop a habit varies, however we have set up a 21 day challenge to get you started. Everyone is different and so are the habits they will be working on, but one thing is for sure, it’s possible! A good place to start is to look at your current habits. Give yourself a pat on the back for the great habits you already have and then find a couple that you feel you would like to change.
Tips To Make Healthy Habits Stick
- Start Small: If it is healthier eating choices you want to focus on, start with one meal. Remember to make a plan and that to develop healthy choices, you don’t have to take an all-or-nothing approach.
- Look for Opportunities: There are so many ways that you can take to make healthy choices. Something as small as taking the stairs or parking further away in a parking lot will add up over time. Maybe you have a job where you sit most of the day, get up and take a quick walk to get yourself moving again.
- Be Patient: Change in and of itself can be challenging. Results can take time and to help you can write down the positive choices you are making so that you can reflect on all of the hard work you put in. Reward yourself cause girl, you deserve it!
