Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett has issued a challenge to each resident of our city.
Shop local. Shop often.
He’s calling it the #CRGavelChallenge and encouraging YOU to grab a bite to eat or cup of coffee at your favorite local business impacted by the flood. Once you’re there, whip out the phone and update your Facebook status with #CRGavelChallenge to help spread the word.
McGrath has partnered with local entrepreneur Steve Shriver and nutritionist Dusty Swehla to get the message out. Shriver, who owns Brewhemia in the NewBo District, joined Jaymie McGrath and Swehla for a rendition of Car Pool Karaoke just after meeting with the city regarding flood recovery efforts.
Shriver encourages the community to join him in NewBo this Friday, October 14th for the “Flood the District Post-Flood Victory Celebration and Benefit.” Entertainment will include live music, prize drawings, specialty t-shirts and souveniers.
Give Cedar Rapids a boost and patronize NewBo night spots after the show! Every dime you spend helps these businesses back to their feet…and don’t forget…share your experiences on social media #CrGavelChallenge.
