McGrath Auto will provide staff and vehicles to help set up and tear down this year’s Relay for Life of Linn County this Friday, June 10-11 from 7 p.m.-1a.m. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is the world’s largest fundraising event to help end cancer. Relay for Life unites people you have battled cancer and people who have lost loved ones to cancer in order to help raise enough money to officially fight off cancer.
The Relay for Life of Linn County event will be held at Kingston Stadium: 907 15th Street SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
So far, there are 301 participants that are divided into 54 teams, who have raised a total of $96,777.15. If you would like to participate in this event and/or donate to this cause, please check out the Relay for Life website.
Here is the schedule of events:
5:00 p.m. Survivor Celebration – Come sign in and pick up a t-shirt and dinner ticket
6:30 p.m. Team Captain Photo
7:00 p.m. Opening Ceremony
7:30 p.m. Iowa Skippers – Watch the jump rope team of over 50 students from Cedar Rapids schools
7:45 p.m. Paint, Color, Craft Your World Purple – You can start projects, walk a few laps and come back for more crafts up until 12:15 a.m.
8:00 p.m. Spirit of Relay – Time to thank thank sponsors and supporters
8:30 p.m. Jazzercise
Dusk Luminaria – This is the time to reflect, heal and remember the loved ones that have been lost in order to illuminate and bring hope to the future
10:00 p.m. Zumba
10:30 p.m. Heads or Trails – Winner of this fun game wins a $50 Target giftcard
11:00 p.m. Music and Walking
12:15 a.m. Team Awards – The top teams are announced
12:30 a.m. Fight Back Ceremony – It may be the end of Relay for Life, but everyone is encouraged to continue to fight against cancer
