If you’re looking for a safe vehicle that you can depend on, then head down to our Cedar Rapids-area Kia dealership and ask one of our friendly and experienced sales associates for more information on the brand new 2013 Kia Sportage. We understand that safety is a huge deciding factor when many car buyers visit our Kia dealer in Hiawatha, so let’s take a look at some of the safety features that are fully equipped in the spacious sedan.

A Look at the Safety Features of the 2013 Sportage

Let’s start with one of the Sportage’s most important safety features: airbags. The Kia Sportage features dual front advanced airbags; when you’re using the seat belts properly, the advanced system will detect when there’s a passenger in the front seat, monitor how serious the impact is, and control the airbag’s inflation to lower the amount of injuries the passenger could experience during a collision.

To the left of the driver is the full-length side curtain airbags with rollover sensor. This safety feature is able to detect when a rollover is about to happen and activate the seatbelt pretensioners, side airbags, and side curtain airbags.

The passenger’s first line of defense in the event of an accident is always the seat belt. The 2013 Sportage features front and rear 3-point seat belts to lower the chance of injury following an accident. The front active headrests are also there to reduce any neck, head, and spinal injuries during rear collisions. This system was created to move the headrests forward when a collision happens to lower the whiplash movement of your head.

Front seat belt pretensioners are there to keep you safe during collisions. They work at tightening the seat belts by pulling the driver and passenger into their seat – keeping you snug. Having these pretensioners will reduce the amount of injuries that could happen during an accident.
