Must See Features on the Jeep Gladiator

December 18, 2019 By Becca Gardner

2020 Jeep Gladiator

The Jeep Gladiator is truly a unique truck on the market today. We haven’t seen a truck made by Jeep since 1992 when the Comanche was on the market and even then, it resembled more of a truck than a truck and a Jeep combined. What’s interesting about the Gladiator is that Jeep took a Wrangler JL body style, made a few modifications and then extended the wheelbase to accommodate for a 5ft box. You get everything you love about the Wranglers in the Gladiator with the convenience of a truck! After thoroughly looking over the Gladiator, we’ve compiled a list of the must-see features on the Jeep Gladiator.

Unique Exterior Features

To begin, let’s take a look at the outside of the Gladiator truck. You’ll notice the styling of the Gladiator closely resembles the Wrangler JL body style with a few differences.

Some of these differences include:

  • Redesigned taillight
  • Widened grille for better towing
  • Dampened tailgate
  • 115 volt power outlet in the box

Fun fact: The Jeep Gladiator is the only open-air truck on the market today.

Now that we covered what’s unique in the Gladiator, let’s discuss what similarities the Gladiator and the Wrangler JL share. For starters, just like the Wrangler JL, the Gladiator comes with the freedom panels. The Gladiator also shares the same style tops as what’s offered on the Wrangler JL.

These options include:

  • Soft top
  • Premium sunrider soft top
  • Hard top
  • Body matching hard top

Towing Capacity

The Jeep Gladiator can tow up to 7,650 lbs and that is coupled with about 1600 pounds of payload. Below is a diagram for the 2020 Jeep Gladiator towing capacity broken down by trim and transmission.

Features Inside the Gladiator

Again, the Wrangler JL and the Gladiator share very similar features and styling cues inside the truck. The biggest difference the Gladiator has over the Wrangler are the back seats that allow you to flip them up to reveal underseat storage that’s removable and lockable.

Other features you’ll get inside the Gladiator include:

  • 8.4 inch touchscreen
  • Nav 2
  • 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission
  • Sway bar disconnect
  • Off-road modes
