City you were born in:
Davenport
Where do you live now?
Davenport
Tell us a little about your family (pets included!)
I grew up in a household with parents, one brother and one sister. I am the oldest sibling of us three. I now live with my sister and I have one dog, Rue.
Career Milestones
What was your first job? Did you love or hate it?
I worked in a kitchen at a restaurant in DeWitt for 5 years as my first job and I enjoyed it!
What has your career been like so far?
My career in this industry has been fun and I’ve successfully worked my way up for the last 5 years and hope to continue to do so!
What’s an accomplishment that you’re proud of?
Earning a promotion to service manager at McGrath Hawkeye Harley-Davidson.
What’s a passion that gets you fired up for your day?
Being able to ride my motorcycle to work almost everyday and pulling in and seeing another 12 coworkers having passion for the same thing!
Who’s someone you admire, and why do you look up to them?
Don Lashelle. He embodies a great example of how to be an effective leader and great friend while fulfilling all of his duties of being a manger.
What else about Woody?
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
Motorcycles (of course), exercise, sports, disc golfing, longboarding, and video games.
One thing you want to do before you die:
Spend a month in a foreign country.
Personal motto:
Get comfortable, being uncomfortable.
Something you’re good at that might surprise people?
Boxing
What’s your definition of happiness?
Financial freedom to live comfortably and be able to do anything you want, especially with friends and family. That time is priceless!
What’s a piece of advice someone gave you that you apply everyday?
It’s not your money, don’t let your wallet make other people’s purchase decisions. Also, DON’T TAKE OTHER PEOPLE’S PROBLEMS PERSONALLY. Sometimes people are upset due to issues outside of your work and they are venting to you. If you don’t learn this, you will not last long in this industry, especially service.
What do you hope to achieve at McGrath?
Step into a management role and continue in management throughout my career, taking every opportunity and larger role I am presented with.
I joined Emerging Leader program…
…to become the most effective leader I can be and be as prepared as I can be for the next step!
