Three cheers for a Kia trio knocking out the top spots in the competition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Car For The Money” Award. The 2021 Kia Forte, 2021 Kia Soul, and 2021 Kia Sorento were top contenders in multiple categories. Still, each of the models climbed to the summit of the prestigious “mountain” to bring home the gold—and an armful of accolades.
What does “Best Car For The Money” mean?
The “Best Car For The Money” Award measures affordability and how the price point relates to things like quality, fuel economy, tech features, and reliability in terms of maintenance and repairs. The BCFTM Award is highly coveted by brands in the auto industry and various in-market vehicles each year—however, this is the fifth consecutive year that the Kia Sorento and Kia Soul have been recipients. The Sorento was named the “Best Three-Row SUV,” and the Soul named “Best Subcompact SUV.”
Jamie Page Deaton, the executive editor of the U.S. News & World Report, spoke about the choice of the Sorento once more, noting its exceptional affordability without sacrificing other essential elements of the buying experience.
“The Kia Sorento’s low price and operating costs make it a great value,” Page Deaton said. “..and that value comes without compromises on features, comfort, or performance.”
Newcomer to the lists, the 2021 Kia Forte was awarded the title of “Best Compact Car for the Money.” It’s no wonder why: the starting price is thousands less than segment-leaders such as the Honda Civic, the Mazda 3, and the Toyota Corolla—while still offering similar features.
What does this mean for Kia?
The prestige of selection is a windfall for Kia. The trifecta of models featured as part of the coveted achievement for the USNWR’s annual review is a glowing recommendation. Kia immediately announced their pleasure with the results, with Russell Wagner, Kia’s Vice President of Marketing, releasing an official statement.
“Kia has outperformed the industry with a world-class lineup of sporty sedans and undeniably capable SUVs,” Wagner said, “and these Best Cars for the Money awards from U.S. News & World Report speak to the strength and appeal of our entire product line.”
With these three and other Kia models winning awards recently, it seems it’s a fabulous time for Kia owners everywhere. We can only guess as to how many of their line will make an appearance next year.
