The McGrath Marion Used Car Superstore is proud to support such an excellent cause in the Marion Community! Coming this June, join in on the 5K4K9 to raise funds for our four-legged officers that keep our city safe!
On Saturday June 4th, 2016 the Marion Police Department will be hosting their annual 5K Race to raise funds for their K9 Department. The K9 Unit was started in 1998 through generous community contributions and remains solely supported by donations. Currently the department is K9 Department consists of 4 dual-purpose police canines. Each canine is trained in patrol skill, three of the four are trained in narcotic detection while the remainder is trained in explosion detection.
This years route will start at LinnMar High School’s Track, with a different route than past years. The race kicks off at 8:00 am and right now until May 20th, you can get $5 off for early registration! Also included this year is a Fun Run for Kids to run 1-mile starting at 9:00 am.
The Canine Units will be attending the event, running with their handlers and providing a fun demonstration after the race. Understand that in general, the Canine Units are not to be petted by children or the public. The two main reasons are civil liability against an accidental bite and, the police canine is trained to protect the handler. The dog may perceive something you may do with your own pet as a threat and bite you.
