After very careful consideration, we at the McGrath Family of Dealerships made the decision to update our time-off policy to allow our team members more flexibility and work-life balance. We pride ourselves on crafting a fun and engaging environment where work doesn’t feel like work–but that doesn’t mean we want life outside of work to suffer either!
That’s why we have rolled out a robust and modern take on the typical time-off structure.
Making Your Earned Time More Flexible
Rather than offer a set amount of paid time-off for vacation, sick and personal time, McGrath has now moved to “Paid Time Off” (PTO). This program allows each employee to decide how to allocate their paid time off from work as needed.
Under the PTO program, you decide when and how you wish to use your PTO hours. This time can be used for vacation, personal business, illness for you or family members, or any other reason you so choose.
More Time For You, From The Start
Even more exciting is the fact that this PTO is available IMMEDIATELY. On your first day, you will have access to your PTO and the ability to use it!
This is eligible to all full-time employees.
How Does It Work?
A team member’s amount of PTO distribution is determined based on their years of service, starting on their first day.
Note: These benefits began for all McGrath employees on 01/01/2022
The deployment* is as follows:
- 0 – 1 Year = 80 Hours of PTO
- 1 – 3 Years = 120 Hours of PTO
- 3 – 7 Years = 160 Hours of PTO
- 7 – 15 Years = 200 Hours of PTO
- 15+ Years = 240 Hours of PTO
*This is figured into a 5-day work week equaling 8 hours a day. For a 4-day schedule, the work week equals 10 hours per day.
More Time With Family (Parental Leave)
The start of a new life! Babies! Adoption! All of these are wonderful moments for parents that deserve to be celebrated!
That is why another update our time-off policy has implemented that we are excited about is our expanded Parental Leave program. We have overhauled our original concept and rolled out a new one that grants more time to parents seeking to connect with their newborn or recently adopted children.
For instance, in the new expanded Parental Leave, a birth mother or the Primary Caregiver in adoption will now be given 8 weeks of paid parental leave. There is also an option for birth mothers or Primary Caregivers to receive 12 weeks total.
Additionally, the Secondary Caregiver will now be given 2 weeks of paid Parental Leave.
Bereavement
Unfortunately, life is not always sunshine and roses and sometimes the worst happens. Because of that, we have upgraded our Bereavement policy for PTO, as well and will pay for time off needed for the loss of a family member.
The current structure is as follows:
- 5 Days paid for parents, spouse, or child.
- 3 Days paid for a sibling, grandparent, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
- 1 Day paid for aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Short-term Disability
In the case of unforeseen injury, we have upgraded our Short-term Disability PTO qualifiers.
If there comes a time that you need to use Short-term Disability, you will no longer need to use all PTO before short-term disability benefits kick in.
Enjoy Work And Life!
We believe that maintaining proper balance between your business and personal life is essential for happy employees, so it was a no-brainer to dust off the old protocols and rework them for the modern worker. We have already seen such a positive response to these changes, and we are overjoyed to constantly be improving our team’s livelihood and morale!
