On Saturday, December 5, McGrath participated in their first Not So Silent Night Caroling Competition at the Cedar Rapids Fire & Ice Festival.
The McGrath carolers referred to themselves as the “Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins.”
The Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins met at the Cedar Rapids Art Museum stairs at 3:45pm, and sang from 4-5pm. McGrath and the other caroling groups were spread out throughout the Fire & Ice Festival so the audience could evaluate them and vote for their favorite at www.thegazette.com/vote.
The McGrath Cotten Headed Ninny Muggins sang songs like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Silent Night, It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas, Up on the Housetop, Deck the Halls and The Twelve Days of Christmas.
After singing, the groups met back at the Cedar Rapids Art Museum stairs to sing sing one final song for a large crowd.
Each year, the Economic Alliance organizes the Fire & Ice Festival on the first Saturday in December. The goal of the festival is to transform the town into a winter wonderland with family-friendly activities at the library, carriage rides, a tree lighting ceremony, the Holiday DeLight Parade fire performers and the Walking in a Whiskey Wonderland.
Happy Holidays!
