Meet Emerging Leader Kellie!
Kellie moved to Cedar Rapids from Peoria, Illinois and has one daughter, Miranda, who is 5 years old! She also has three adorable dogs, Rizzo, Aceley, and Tobias. She says shes strangely obsessed with stars, space, sunrises, and sunsets. She also loves all dogs!
When she’s not working she’s spending every minute with her daughter. She jokes, “What is a hobby? I have a child, that’s my hobby!”
Kellie wanted to become an Emerging Leader because she thinks knowledge is power. This program is going to create more confidence, knowledge, and leadership skills. All of which, are important in order to be a leader. She’s wanting to move up, do bigger things, and show/prove what she’d made of and she believes this class gives you great skills and tips on how to achieve it.
She has admired Angela McCullough since she started her position at McGrath. She’s seen her move up and help others get into a position where they are able to move up as well. Angela is positive and is good at motivating their department to reach certain goals, guide them to become better, and always has an ear to listen. If Angela can’t answer something she will find someone who can. Kellie said, “Who doesn’t love a leader like that!?!”
The one piece of advice that Kellie applies to her everyday life is – Get comfortable with being around people who are smarter than you. Makes you deal with your insecurities.
