It’s a brand new year and with that comes new, exciting things! We can’t believe January is already over, but here is what we were up to and how we made the month fly by.
New Year, New Goals
We started off the new year with a company meeting to discuss our plans for the year. We’re getting ready to make company history this year and we’re very excited about the things heading our way!
Holiday Party
Our holiday party was on January 6th at the Marriott. It was a night full of laughs, amazing food, and well deserved recognition. Every year there is one team member awarded the Dorothy McGrath Award and another the H.R. McGrath Award. This year we were honored to present the Dorothy McGrath Award to Kristin Eschweiler. The H.R. McGrath Award was actually awarded to two very deserving individuals this year, Brad Mackey and Justin Rozinek. After dinner and awards we were all entertained with a night full of casino-like games and good conversation. It was a great way to start the new year as a company and family.
Weight Loss Challenge
One January 8th we started our annual McGrath Weight Loss Challenge. This is a six week program for our employees that encourages them to lose weight. They can compete individually or on a team. Everyone that is competing has until February 19th to push their limits and lose that weight they’ve been wanting to get rid of! It’s been challenging so far, but we couldn’t be more proud of their dedication. Each week we have everyone weigh-in and whoever has lost the most in a week wins a prize. Congrats to Kevin Engelken, Bri Morgan, and Melissa Johnson on this achievement!
Bug in the Citrus
If you headed over to HyVee on Collins Road in Cedar Rapids you would have seen one of our Volkswagen Beetles parked in with a bunch of fruit. HyVee used one our Beetles for their Citrus Sale display. It looked great!
Emerging Leaders
Our Emerging Leaders group had an exciting meeting this month. They had a panel discussion with some outstanding individuals from McGrath Family of Dealerships. This panel included Pat McGrath, Dennis O’Brien, Orrin Smith, Tammy Roberts, and Rick Sayer. The panel was there to answer all of their questions on how they got to where they are today and what they believe helped them along the way.
January Difference Maker
Congrats is in order for our January Difference Maker, Jeff Simmons!! Jeff came in on his day off to make a key for someone who lived over an hour away. The customer was extremely grateful and Jeff was happy to do it. We are very lucky to have such amazing team members, such as Jeff, and we like to make sure they are recognized for all their hard work.
Awards for Hard Work
Another congrats is in order for Beth Hadenfeldt! Beth has not only been pulling her own weight around the dealership, but she’s been helping others with their workload as well. Things have been busy, but Beth hasn’t complained once. She always just steps right up and ask how she can help. Beth was awarded for her outstanding work ethic.
Awards for Exceeding Expectations
We also award Over the Top awards each month. These awards are actually from one employee to another. Employees can give an Over the Top award to another employee (or employees) for helping them with a task, going above and beyond for them, or just simply being kind in a time of need. This month we had an abundance of Over the Top Awards and we want to congratulate all of you on being such great, hard working individuals!
Largest Sale of the Year
Pat McGrath Chevyland had their biggest sale of the year this month!! They took all of their used cars over to Hawkeye Downs for Iowa’s Largest Indoor Used Car Sales Event. It was an amazing time, full of games, food, and entertainment. They even gave away a free car! Congrats to Travis Otto on winning that!
It’s been an incredible month and the year is just beginning. Thank you to everyone who made 2017 so successful and we’re looking forward to what 2018 has in store.
